The fourth module of the course introduced time series. The final project for it asked me to make use of time series analysis techniques to identify which zip codes from a given dataset of house prices would be the best five to invest in.
Heat-maps are one of the more overtly interesting visualizations that I have so far encountered in data science. With a choice of colors and what value should be at the center, a multiplication table can look far more exciting than “1 x 1 = 1”. Although it looks similarly simplistic, heatmap of a times table provides a larger context to look at individual relationships.
I decided to pick up Data Science because it has elements of mathematics and the soft sciences. I had thought my dream job would combine subjects in which I was really interested at university: mainly Mathematics, Linguistics, Physics, Computer Science and International Relations. Since then, I have realized that what interests me about these subjects is their intersections and connections.
